A recent survey carried out by Southern Cross in partnership with Kantar TNS delivered some interesting findings about the benefit to New Zealand employees of having health insurance. 2000 employees were surveyed, and there were a number of key findings that support why a health insurance offering is a valuable asset to your businesses.
A recent Southern Cross survey1 carried out in partnership with Kantar TNS delivered some interesting findings about the benefit to New Zealand employees of having health insurance. 2000 employees were included in the survey, 1000 with health insurance and 1000 without and there were a number of key findings that support why a health insurance offering is a valuable asset to your businesses.
Wait time for elective surgery
Of those surveyed, employees with health insurance reported wait times for elective surgery reduced by on average 54% from 80 days' wait, down to 37 days. 1
Absenteeism in those who had elective surgery
Average annual days off work for employees who had elective surgery with health insurance is 7.5 and for those without health insurance 16.7. 1
Subsidised health insurance is valued
64% of respondents who had subsidised health insurance valued it 'a lot'. As a valued benefit, it was the third most valued benefit, after flexible working arrangements and a bonus package. 1
Subsidised health the most popular insurance benefit
Among those with it, subsidised health insurance is a more valued employee benefit than any other personal insurance product, ranking higher than subsidised permanent disability insurance, subsidised income protection, subsidised life insurance and subsidised trauma insurance. 1
