Creating a healthier life that works

Thu Aug. 26th 2021

Food provides us with the energy we need to live. What food we choose will help us live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

Claire Turnbull,  AIA Vitality partner from Mission Nutrition, provided inspirational ideas on eating well, and the value of forward planning when it comes to the food we use to fuel our bodies. Check out her 5 steps below on how to get your eating habits on track and feel your best.

Create a healthier life that works in 5 steps:
Look at why you eat when you do.
There are many reasons why we eat, but many of them have nothing to do with being hungry! When embarking on the journey of changing the way you eat and improving your relationship with food, it is a good idea to track what you eat for a week and just write down WHY you are eating when you do.
Get forward thinking.
Rather than relying on willpower, plan and focus on changing your HABITS. When you make the right choice, reward yourself for the success (but not with food 😉).
Watch your portion sizes.
Our plates are approximately 25% bigger than in the 1960s. We often eat more food than we need because we have become used to serving ourselves too much. Be mindful of the financial incentives as well; they lure you in and make it appear like the logical choice to upsize! It is a trap, don’t fall for it.
Change your food environment.
Make it harder to access the things you want to be having less of, and make foods that are better for you easier to access - for example, keep healthy foods at eye level or the front of your fridge and cupboards.
Review your energy management strategies
Check-in with your caffeine fix! Too much can compromise the QUALITY of your sleep, creating a dependence on it.

  • I cannot recommend Michael and the team at Cave Financial highly enough. They steered me through a complicated set of mortgage applications with professionalism, good cheer, and were incredibly prompt with every query I made. On top of that they negotiated a better rate! I would not have been able to get through this arduous process without their skill and care.
